Smyth sewing is generally used on books requiring high quality, long life spans, and excellent lay flat characteristics. Some examples include text books, library books, law books and high quality coffee table books. In the Smyth sewing process each signature is stitched through the gutter then pulled together and tied off, forming the sewn bookblock. Our four Astronic high-speed sewers give you the quality you demand in the time that you need it. We can produce Smyth sewn books from 1/8” – 2- ¾” bulks, and from 3-5/8” x 5” – 10” x 13” trims. Whether your Smyth sewn run is as few as 100 copies or as many as 100,000 copies, Dekker is well positioned to benefit you.
