Case Study

Description:
A small liberal arts and sciences college in north central Indiana, Manchester College has an enrollment of just over 1,100 undergraduate students and almost 300 faculty and staff. The voicemail system at the college just one day quit. With a limited number of in-house personnel who could actually support the system, the college had to act quickly. Within a short period of time, the college worked with a CDM team to implement VoIP infrastructure and phones, Cisco Unity Unified Messaging, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco Emergency Responder, Berbee InformaCast with great success. This case study describes how it all came together.

Prior to this failure, Manchester College had initiated a request for proposal (RFP) seeking the best way to address the aging telephony and voicemail systems. During that process, they had come into contact with Ann Garcia, one of CDW’s Indianapolis-based Advanced Technology Account Executives. Garcia submitted a response. But for fiscal reasons, the college ended up postponing the project.

"When the system failed, though," Case says, "We called Ann in a panic. We said, "O.K., we can’t do the whole phone system implementation, but we’re ready to do voicemail."

A CDW engagement team led by Project Manager Nicole Sawa hit the ground running. They worked closely with Manchester College IT staff and others in the administration to ensure a smooth and quick implementation of a new VoIP infrastructure and Cisco Unity Unified Messaging.
