Blue Coat Technology Brief Sample

To eliminate the gray area of what your employees should and should not trust, know your web defense. Below is a Top 10 list of risks that your employees may assume they can trust but your web defense should not.

1. Popular Web Sites have a large audience and often weak protections against iFrame & SQL injection attacks, making them key targets. In a matter of hours, malware can infect many users before being detected and removed from the site. Simple in design, the injections are scripts or pointers to a cybercrime grid of relay servers and malware download hosts that deliver their payload without the user clicking on anything.

2. Fake Software Updates for trusted software are almost blindly accepted by users and often viewed as a nuisance while trying to get to desired web content. Users trust branded software like Adobe Flash Player updates, Microsoft patches, and other third party software or browser plug-ins. These attacks normally have a lure such as a web video, and when clicked upon the users appear to visit a legitimate site, however, a software update is presented to them that requires acceptance to get to the video or lure.
