This military organization needed to lock down and protect all workstations within three weeks before a cyber warfare training exercise in which the National Security Agency (NSA) Red Team would attempt to hack into its computer systems. To thwart the attack, the project leader knew he needed a proactive solution that would withstand targeted and unknown attacks that their existing, reactive defenses would miss. While anti-virus defenses and very tight configuration controls were already in place, he recognized that the command needed to address a major gap in its security posture.
