AT&T Case Study Sample

The Kings County Area Public Transit Agency operates the Kings Area Rural Transit (KART) vanpool program in California’s San Joaquin Valley. Part of KART is the Agricultural Industries Transportation Services Program (AITS), which provides farm workers with safe, reliable transportation to and from work. They needed to be able to manage a widely dispersed fleet of vanpool vehicles to gain funding, ensure regulatory compliance, increase user safety and reduce costs.

KART now equips each van with a WebTech GPS/Telematics Locator that is connected through the AT&T mobile broadband network and an in-vehicle WebTech Mobile Data Terminal (MDT). Now KART staff can track a vehicle, identify who is driving by the log-in process, know how many riders are aboard, determine how far and fast the vehicle has traveled, and communicate with a hands-free voice system.
