Although all major client mobile platforms were considered in this study, in this analysis we're examining the handset platforms, as there is an ongoing battle in the marketplace right now for market share and mindshare. Due to space constraints, this section focuses on just three of the top mobile platforms: RIM BlackBerry, Microsoft Windows Mobile, and Apple iPhone. The BlackBerry is in a clear leadership position in terms of current use: 94% of the Best-in-Class currently use BlackBerry with MDM, 81% more than use Windows Mobile, and 250% more than use iPhone.

16% of Best-in-Class are testing iPhone, four-times the number testing Windows Mobile, and 16-times that number testing BlackBerry. Not surprising, giving that most all of them have completed the testing phase with that platform.

iPhone is in the lead for future implementation at 28%, followed closely by Windows Mobile. BlackBerry, however, significantly trails at 3% of Best-in-Class. It's not necessarily a sign that support of a particular mobile platform is waning; it is, however, a clear sign of growing interest in a variety of alternative platforms.
