IBM Technology Brief Sample

What is the future of SAP in large organizations? The SAP enterprise environment is becoming both functionally broader and more flexible. Core enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems are complemented by new informational and collaborative applications. The potential emerges to redefine and transform the processes through which businesses compete in the 21st century.

Realizing this potential will mean new initiatives in business transformation, software architecture, and application deployment. Success, however, will also depend in no small measure on underlying server and storage infrastructures.

The organization of storage resources requires special attention. Large-scale corporate SAP environments include hundreds of terabytes (TBs) of disk storage and, if current trends continue, the largest will be more than one petabyte (1,000 terabytes) within the next few years. Midsize installations have routinely required from 5 TB to 50 TB of disk capacity.
