Hewlett-Packard Tech Brief Sample
Embedded software technology that’s integrated into
HP Disk-to-Disk (D2D) Backup Systems, HP StoreOnce provides the data deduplication that optimizes long-term data storage. Without deduplication, data protection processes typically entail saving multiple instances of what is essentially the same file (with minute changes among the different versions), filling valuable storage space and inflating power and cooling costs. Copies of these “versions” are then transmitted offsite for disaster recovery purposes.
By automatically finding and then eliminating redundant file information, HP StoreOnce deduplication typically permits the retention of 20-times more backup data on disk. Being able to retain more backup data on disk for longer periods of time reduces downtime and enables greater data accessibility for the rapid restoration of lost or corrupt files. Handsfree, unattended daily backup is especially important for remote or branch offices (ROBO) and other environments with limited IT resources.
