Dell White Paper Sample
PC deployment costs tend not to be top-of-mind for many IT executives and managers, and it may be difficult for some organizations to see the value of Dell's offering. Nevertheless, cost savings can be achieved via the ability to reduce labor expenses by shortening the time required for technicians to perform deployment, as well as by actually using less-expensive labor to lower the cost per PC deployed.
Additionally, there are likely to be fewer calls to the help desk because users receive the configurations they need and want during the deployment. Cost savings may also be realized by repurposing It personnel toward more strategic and potentially revenue-generating or other cost-saving projects. Companies that have not studied the time required for PC deployment may be unaware of the extent of the costs -- or the potential savings -- associated with PC deployment.
Large companies, however, tend to be more aware of these costs due to the large scale of their PC deployments. IDC research shows that most companies deploying over 500 PCs annually would benefit from better deployment practices. Organizations that deploy fewer than 500 PCs per year may have more difficultly in seeing the benefits.
